Out past the Westside toward Baldwin and Maxville, and north into Nassau County, fencing stops being a yard job. Runs are measured in thousands of feet, the ground never levels out, and the whole thing lives or dies on how the corners are built.
That is the honest cost centre in wire fencing. A braced H-assembly at every corner, end and direction change is what lets a run hold tension for twenty years; skip it and the whole boundary goes slack in two seasons and there is no fixing it without starting again. We price the braces properly and we will show you why on the estimate.
For livestock we usually specify no-climb 2x4 woven mesh — safe for horses because a hoof cannot go through it, tight enough to hold goats, and enough of an obstacle to slow a coyote. Board fence goes on the frontage where appearance matters, and high-tensile line covers long cattle boundaries at the lowest cost per foot of anything we build.
What is in the price
Braced H-corner assemblies
At every corner, end, gate and direction change. This is the part that makes the run last.
No-climb 2x4 woven wire
Horse-safe mesh, tensioned in one continuous pull per run rather than spliced across the middle.
Board and post-and-rail
Two, three and four-rail in pressure-treated or cedar, usually on the frontage.
High-tensile line fencing
For long cattle boundaries where cost per foot is the deciding factor.
Tube gates to sixteen feet
Hung on drilled-in gate posts sized for the span, so a wide gate does not drag by year two.
Terrain-following layout
Runs surveyed and staked to the ground you actually have, with dips handled rather than ignored.
How it runs
Walk and stake the boundary
The line gets walked in full. Corners, gates, water crossings and low spots are staked before a price exists.
Priced by the run
Long boundaries price down per foot. The braces and gates are itemised separately so you can see where the money goes.
Corners first
Every brace assembly built and cured before a metre of wire is pulled. Nothing gets tensioned against green concrete.
Pull, tension and hang
Wire pulled in continuous runs, tensioned properly, then gates hung and swung.
Questions we get on this one
How long does a wire fence last here?
Fifteen to twenty-five years, and the spread is almost entirely down to the corners and the coating on the wire. Class 3 galvanised costs a little more and roughly doubles the life against Class 1 in Florida humidity.
Can you fence across a wet area?
Usually, with a floodgate or a hinged panel at the crossing so debris can pass without taking the fence out. Fixing a rigid fence across a drainage line just means rebuilding it after every heavy season.
Do you do smaller acreage?
Yes — one and two-acre lots are common out that way, and they get the same braced corners. Below about four hundred feet the per-foot price rises, and we say so up front rather than quietly.
